Cheat Sheet Maker for Exams

Updated · By the Revizly team

Revizly condenses your class material into a short review sheet: the must-know points, the key terms and a few tables that put everything side by side. Upload your notes, slides or a PDF and it’s ready in about 30 seconds, with flashcards and a practice quiz on the same content.

Real example

Endocrine System and Hormones

What went in: A PDF of lecture slides from an anatomy and physiology class, uploaded by a student.

Endocrine glands = secrete hormones directly into bloodstream which transports hormones throughout the body • Hormones = chemical messenger sent to many parts of the body to produce a specific effect on a target cell or organ

Revizly’s actual output for the first three topics of that deck. Diagrams pulled from the PDF are left out of this page.

The study guide

1. Endocrine System Fundamentals

Memory hook: Endocrine glands release hormones into blood, whereas exocrine glands use ducts.

  • Endocrine glands: secrete hormones directly into the bloodstream, which transports the hormones throughout the body.
  • Hormones: chemical messengers sent to many parts of the body to produce a specific effect on a target cell or organ.

2. Hormone Action on Target Cells

Must-know: Lipid-soluble hormones, including steroid hormones such as testosterone, estrogen, and cortisol, diffuse through the lipid bilayer and bind to receptor proteins inside target cells, activating specific genes.

Memory hook: Lipid-soluble hormones enter cells; water-soluble hormones signal from the membrane.

  • Examples of water-soluble hormones: epinephrine, human growth hormone, thyroxine, insulin.
  • Humans have over 200 hormones or hormone-like chemicals involved in growth, development, metabolism, homeostasis, and immunity.

3. Feedback and Tropic Hormones

Memory hook: Rising final hormone levels → inhibition of hypothalamus and pituitary signals.

  • Negative feedback: a homeostatic response in which the output of a system suppresses or inhibits activity within that system.
  • When blood plasma becomes too concentrated, hypothalamic receptors signal the posterior pituitary to release ADH; ADH makes the kidneys retain water, dilution restores normal plasma concentration, and the hypothalamus then signals the pituitary to stop releasing ADH.
  • In a tropic hormone pathway, the hypothalamus releases a releasing hormone into the anterior pituitary, the anterior pituitary releases a tropic hormone into the blood, the tropic hormone stimulates another endocrine gland, and the final hormone inhibits further release of the first two hormones.

The flashcards

What your cheat sheet looks like

Each topic gets its must-know points first, then the key terms, then a one-line memory hook. Comparisons go into tables. Anything that’s background or an example is kept apart, so the sheet stays short.

Look at the endocrine example above. A dozen slides about glands, hormone types and feedback loops come down to three short sections you can read in two minutes. The difference between lipid-soluble and water-soluble hormones, which is exactly the kind of thing that shows up on an A&P exam, is stated once, plainly, with a hook to remember it.

How to make a cheat sheet with Revizly

Sign in, upload the material for one unit, and read the must-know points and tables Revizly pulls out. Export the result as a PDF if you want it on paper, or keep it on your phone.

  • Upload one unit at a time: a lecture, a chapter or a week of notes. Smaller inputs give tighter sheets.
  • Skim the must-know points. Delete anything your professor said won’t be tested and add anything they stressed in class.
  • Export as a PDF to print, or study it on your phone between classes.

If your professor allows a cheat sheet in the exam

Some professors let you bring one page of notes, sometimes called a crib sheet or formula sheet. Use Revizly’s version as your starting point, then copy the parts you need by hand: writing it yourself is half the benefit.

Always check your syllabus or ask your professor what’s allowed: one side or two, typed or handwritten, formulas only or anything goes. Revizly gives you the condensed material. What ends up on the sheet you bring into the room is your call.

Why a cheat sheet isn’t enough on its own

A cheat sheet tells you what to know, not whether you know it. Pair it with the flashcards and practice quiz Revizly makes from the same material, so you test yourself instead of just rereading.

Rereading a review sheet the night before feels productive, but research on the testing effect shows that recalling information is what makes it stick. Read the sheet once, then go through the flashcards until you stop missing them.

What it costs

You can start for free: 2 classes a month with a preview of each review sheet. Essential costs $6.99 a month and includes full sheets and PDF export. Premium costs $9.99 a month and removes the monthly class limit.

Condense your next lecture

Sign in, upload your slides, a PDF or photos of your notes, and get a review sheet with flashcards and a practice quiz in about 30 seconds. The free plan covers 2 classes a month.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an AI cheat sheet maker?

Yes. Revizly uses AI to read your material and pull out the must-know points, key terms and comparisons. It only works from what you upload.

Can I make a cheat sheet from a PDF?

Yes, including scanned PDFs. Lecture slides in PowerPoint, Word docs, photos of your notes and YouTube lectures work too.

Can I print it?

Yes. On the Essential and Premium plans you can export the sheet as a PDF and print it.

Will it fit on one page?

That depends on how much material you upload. One lecture usually gives a short sheet. A whole unit will run longer, so upload one lecture at a time if you need a single page.

Is it free?

The free plan covers 2 classes a month with a preview of each sheet. Paid plans start at $6.99 a month.

Can I edit the cheat sheet?

Yes. You can edit any line, add your own notes or delete sections before you export it.
