A Quizlet Alternative That Writes the Flashcards for You

Updated · By the Revizly team

Quizlet is great when someone has already made the set you need. Revizly is for when they haven’t: you upload your own lecture slides, PDF or notes, and it writes the flashcards, a study guide and a practice quiz for you, with spaced repetition built in.

Real example

Psychological Research Methods

What went in: A PDF from an intro psychology research methods class, uploaded by a student.

The first flashcards Revizly made from that PDF, unedited. Nobody typed these.

Why students look for a Quizlet alternative

Usually for one of two reasons: the free plan got more limited, or there’s no good set for their class and typing 200 cards from the slides takes all evening. Revizly is aimed at the second problem.

Quizlet’s public library is its biggest strength. For a common intro class, there’s probably a set already. But public sets are made from someone else’s class, with someone else’s professor. If your exam follows your own lecture slides, the cards that matter most are the ones nobody has made yet.

What Revizly does differently

It starts from your material, not a blank card. Upload what your professor gave you and Revizly writes the cards, a study guide and a quiz, all from the same content, then schedules your reviews with spaced repetition.

  • Flashcards come from your slides, PDF, notes or a lecture video, so they match what you’ll be tested on.
  • Every set comes with a study guide, so you can read the context behind a card you keep missing.
  • A multiple-choice practice quiz with explanations is built from the same material.
  • Spaced repetition decides which cards you see each day, so you review what you’re about to forget.

When Quizlet is the better choice

If a good set already exists for your class, if you like typing your own cards because it helps you learn, or if your teacher runs Quizlet Live in class, stick with Quizlet. It does those things well.

When Revizly is the better choice

When you have the slides or the chapter but not the time to turn them into cards. That’s most college classes, especially in nursing, pre-med, anatomy, psychology and history, where there’s a lot to memorize and it changes from one professor to the next.

Can you use both?

Yes. Plenty of students use Quizlet for ready-made sets and Revizly for their own lecture material. On Premium you can also export your Revizly flashcards to Anki.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free Quizlet alternative?

Revizly has a free plan that covers 2 classes a month, with a preview of the flashcards, study guide and quiz for each. Paid plans start at $6.99 a month.

Can Revizly import my Quizlet sets?

Not directly. You can copy the terms from a set and paste them in as text, and Revizly will build flashcards and a quiz from them.

Does Revizly have a public library like Quizlet?

Revizly has public classes you can study from, but the library is much smaller than Quizlet’s. Its focus is making cards from your own material.

Is Revizly better than Quizlet?

It depends on what you need. Quizlet is better for finding sets other people made. Revizly is better when you need flashcards, a study guide and a quiz from your own slides or notes, fast.

Does Revizly have an app?

Yes, on iPhone and Android, synced with the website.

How much does Quizlet Plus cost?

Third-party pricing guides listed Quizlet Plus at about $7.99 a month or $35.99 a year in September 2026. Check Quizlet’s site for current prices.
