Turn Your Notes Into a Quiz
Updated · By the Revizly team
Upload your class notes and Revizly turns them into a practice quiz. Typed notes, a Word doc, photos of handwritten pages or a PDF all work. You get multiple-choice questions on every topic in your notes, each with an explanation, in about 30 seconds.
Real example
Human Biology, Exam 1
What went in: A student’s own study notes for a first human biology exam, uploaded as a Word document.

Dynamic equilibrium. Feedback loop: receptor, control center, effector. Positive feedback: childbirth…
Five of the questions Revizly wrote from those notes, unedited.

How to make a quiz from your notes
Sign in, upload or paste your notes, and Revizly writes multiple-choice questions on each topic. You take the quiz right away and read an explanation after every answer, so you know exactly what to go back to.
Your notes don’t have to be neat. The demo notes are a list of fragments (“Feedback loop: receptor, control center, effector”), and the questions still test the idea behind each fragment, like which part of a feedback loop does the detecting.

- Upload your notes as a Word doc, PDF or photos, or paste them as text.
- Take the quiz. Wrong answers point you to the part of your notes to study again.
Why quizzing yourself beats rereading your notes
Answering questions forces you to pull information out of memory, and that effort is what makes it stick. Rereading feels productive but mostly builds familiarity, which falls apart on the actual exam.
This is one of the most consistent findings in learning research: students who test themselves remember more a week later than students who spend the same time rereading, even though the rereaders feel more confident. A quiz also shows you what you don’t know while there’s still time to fix it.
The catch is that writing good questions for yourself takes time. That’s the part Revizly does for you.
What kind of notes work
Any notes with real content: typed class notes, a study guide you wrote, a teacher’s review packet, photos of handwritten pages, or a PDF. The more your notes say, the more questions you get.

| Handwritten notes | One clear photo per page |
